There may be no cure for RA, but there are natural remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis to help ease pain without drugs.

There are lots of ways to treat RA and have the life you want.

While some treatment options are medical, there are natural therapy treatments for those who like to take a holistic approach to pain management.

If medication is not your forte, solutions like stress management, rest and exercise can assist your quality of life.

10 Natural Therapy Remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis

1) Rest and Relaxation

The first natural therapy any sufferer of Rheumatoid Arthritis pain can try is rest and relaxation.

A full 8 hours of sleep is generally advised for people with RA.

If you can’t get 8 hours at night, try napping during the day.

Incorporating relaxation techniques into your nightly routine can help you get a more restful sleep if stress is an issue at bedtime.

Meditation, deep breathing and guided imagery can put an end to evening anxiety and help you sleep all night through.

Several smartphone apps that assist with sleep have also been developed.

2) Mind/Body Therapies

Mind/Body Therapies are a natural segue from relaxation.

That’s because these can include relaxation techniques deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation, and visualization.

3) Magnets

Some people have used magnets to treat pain associated with arthritis.

Information surrounding the use of magnets generally focuses on elderly people who use it for osteoarthritis pain.

More research is needed to see why magnets work, and exactly how helpful they are at treating pain from RA.

But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try any number of products available on the market that use magnets.

These usually come in the form of bracelets, necklaces, inserts, and pads.

4) Hot and Cold Treatments

Many doctors recommend hot and cold treatments as a natural therapy that helps RA sufferers.

Heat relaxes muscles.

This assists with the overall goal of relaxation.

While cold is good for reducing inflammation.

When it comes to the cold treatment, you only want to apply it for 15 minutes at a time with breaks in between treatments.

Always ask a doctor for recommendations and guidance before implementing your own treatment plan.

5) Tai Chi & Exercise

Exercise is a great way to treat RA.

That’s because it assists against fatigue and helps you get a good night sleep while conditioning your body.

Some good low impact exercises include water aerobics, stretching and walking.

One exercise that is thought to work as a natural therapy to treat RA is Tai Chi.

This Chinese martial art that is centered around focus and concentration, with slow and deliberate movements.

Don’t try a new exercise routine on your own.

Ask a professional, like a trainer, what the best low-impact exercise plan is for you.

6) Acupuncture

In the world of Chinese medicine, natural therapy is emphasized.

That’s certainly true for acupuncture as a means of treating RA.

Acupuncture helps with pain management with a philosophy that all things in the body are connected.

By pushing small needles into “meridians” in the body, certain areas of pain are positively impacted.

All of this is conducted with the end goal of correcting imbalances in the body.

Restoring the “qi” as it is referred to in Chinese medicine.

7) Plant Oils

Plant oils, like Evening Primrose Oil, are said to help morning stiffness associated with RA.

It’s the gamma-linolenic fatty acid in Evening Primrose that is said to provide relief.

But all studies are inconclusive.

As with all things, check with your doctor before implementing this natural therapy treatment.

8) Fish Oil Supplement

There are studies reinforcing the use of Fish Oil supplement to treat pain associated with RA.

It’s Omega 3’s are effective at reducing stiffness, and as a bonus, they help prevent heart disease.

While Fish Oil is relatively easy to use safely, it can interact with certain medications or increase the likelihood of bruising or bleeding.

Some people who take Fish Oil supplement experience uncomfortable or embarrassing indigestion issues.

Talk to your doctor to learn if Fish Oil may be the right supplement for you.

9) Certain Foods and Spices

Spices have long been associated with natural remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

There’s a long list of foods and spices that help cure problems that are associated with RA.

Symptoms that are thought to be treatable with diet include swollen, tender joints, pain and stiffness, fatigue and weight.

Spices that are thought to assist with some of these symptoms are cinnamon, black pepper, garlic, turmeric, ginger and green tea.

Incorporating these foods into a healthy balanced diet could help curb long-term symptoms.

10) Assistive Devices

For immediate relief, assistive devices could be the key to avoiding the medical treatment of pain associated RA.

When the pain is too bad, these devices help you stay mobile.

They include splints, braces, collars and even customized footwear.

Accessible tools like grabbers and hand rails around the home can also ease the suffering of an RA patient.

A natural therapy regimen should include a number of non-medical interventions that work for you.

And assistive devices is one option that could have an immediate impact that avoids medical treatment.
